Large houses on curving streets above the ocean, garages on steep driveways and very little room to stop a truck. What we check before a Sea Cliff move.

| Setting | A small residential enclave on the bluffs at the northwest corner of the city, facing the Golden Gate |
| Key streets | El Camino del Mar, Sea Cliff Avenue and the northern ends of the avenues from 25th westward |

| Landmarks | China Beach at the foot of Sea Cliff Avenue, the Legion of Honor in nearby Lincoln Park |
| Typical homes | Large detached houses, many with garages, on lots that slope toward the water |
| Main move challenge | Narrow, curving streets with limited places for a large truck to stop and turn |

Sea Cliff is not a grid. Its streets curve along the bluff, some are narrow, and several end at the edge of the neighborhood rather than running through. That keeps traffic light, which helps, but it also means a full-size moving truck has fewer places to stop and fewer ways to turn around. We look at each address before move day and decide which truck fits and where it will park.
The homes themselves are usually large, with several floors, a garage at or below street level and entries that sit above or below the sidewalk. Furniture tends to be large too: dining sets, sectionals, armoires, art and pianos. A move here is about time inside the house as much as the drive, so a careful walk-through or a detailed inventory makes the estimate more accurate.
The ocean is right there. Fog and wind are part of most days, and we wrap every piece in moving blankets for the carry and the ride.

Two to three weeks ahead, work through these:
A few things we keep in mind on these blocks:
Moves are billed by the hour: $145 for 2 movers, $175 for 3 movers and $235 for 4 movers, 3-hour minimum, plus packing materials used. Larger homes usually call for a bigger crew, and we size it with you up front.
Moving blankets, tape, wardrobe boxes, floor protection, and furniture disassembly and reassembly are included with every full-service move. For packing, choose Standard, Silver (+$35/hr) or Golden (+$70/hr). The moving cost guide has more detail, and fine art and antiques are covered on our packing services page.
On many streets, yes. Some are narrow, curving or dead-end, and on those we may use a smaller truck or park on a wider street nearby. We decide before move day so there are no surprises.
Yes. Tell us about the piano type, artwork and other large or fragile pieces when you request a quote so the crew and materials are planned for them.
2 movers are $145 an hour, 3 movers $175 an hour and 4 movers $235 an hour, with a 3-hour minimum, plus packing materials used. A larger home takes more hours, which we estimate with you in advance.
It can help, especially where the curb is short. The SFMTA authorizes temporary no-parking signs; apply a week or more ahead and check the posting rules and fees at sfmta.com.
Often, yes, if the driveway slope is manageable with a loaded dolly. Clear the garage and move the cars out before the crew arrives.
Furniture is wrapped in moving blankets for every carry, and boxes should be closed and taped. If heavy rain is forecast, we talk through timing with you ahead of time.
The Richmond surrounds Sea Cliff to the south, Presidio Heights sits along the far side of the Presidio, and Pacific Heights is a short drive east.
