One of our longer East Bay runs
Concord is about 45 miles north of downtown San Jose, connected by I-680 through the Tri-Valley, Danville and Walnut Creek. You are not charged for that trip; billing starts at your door. Morning jobs in the East Bay get a 9 to 11 AM arrival window, and the crew calls 30 minutes before it pulls up.
The lay of the land
Concord is the largest city in Contra Costa County and, unlike its hill-country neighbors, mostly flat. Todos Santos Plaza is the old downtown square, a few blocks from the Concord BART station, with North Concord/Martinez BART further up the line. Clayton Road runs southeast toward Clayton through the Clayton Valley neighborhoods, Monument Boulevard crosses the south side, and Highway 4 and Highway 242 cut across the north. Mount Diablo rises on the southeastern edge.
Housing, street by street
- East-side ranch tracts. Neighborhoods such as Dana Estates have wide, tree-lined streets and single-story homes with driveways. Short carries and easy truck placement.
- Clayton Valley and the slopes toward Mount Diablo. Larger two-story homes, some on gentle grades, with more furniture per room.
- Downtown apartments and condos. Newer buildings near Todos Santos Plaza and BART, often with elevators and a set loading area.
- Monument corridor apartments. Dense garden-style complexes, many with exterior stairs to upper floors.
Trees along older streets sometimes overhang the curb; if branches hang low in front of your house, tell us so the truck can park clear of them.
Downtown loading and HOA paperwork
If the truck needs to hold street space, ask the City of Concord what your block requires; we plan around the answer. For apartment and condo buildings, book the elevator and loading time with management. Elevator waiting is counted as part of the job time. Communities that ask for a certificate of insurance get one from us at no cost; send the HOA or management company name, mailing address and email.
Recent Concord requests
Concord sent us too few quote requests between mid-July and late October 2026 to call a trend, so for context: across Lamorinda and central Contra Costa County (Concord, Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda and Alamo) we received 7 requests in the same period, not counting account work, and 5 booked or completed.
Concord rates and typical totals
Flat streets and driveways keep many Concord moves efficient. A two or three bedroom ranch house usually goes with three movers at $175 an hour; a three-bedroom over 1,800 square feet or a four-bedroom home gets four movers at $235. There is a three-hour minimum and then 15-minute billing, with no weekend surcharge. Moves to Walnut Creek or Pleasant Hill are short; if your second address is more than 10 minutes away, that leg is billed at double time as California rules require.
From a studio to four bedrooms: Concord move costs
The rows below start from the billed time on moves we completed from mid-July to mid-October 2026. Easy access and boxes packed before we arrive pull a move toward the low end. Either way, your Concord bill is the hours used times the crew rate.
| Home size | Crew | Typical hours | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3 to 4 hours | $525 to $700 |
| 1 bedroom | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3 to 5 hours | $525 to $875 |
| 2 bedrooms | 3 movers, $175/hr | 4.5 to 7.75 hours | $788 to $1,356 |
| 3 bedrooms, under about 1,800 sq ft | 3 movers, $175/hr | 7 to 12.5 hours | $1,225 to $2,188 |
| 3 bedrooms over about 1,800 sq ft, or 4+ bedrooms | 4 movers, $235/hr | 7 to 12.5 hours | $1,645 to $2,938 |
Middle 50% of billed hours on recent local moves for direct customers (July to October 2026), with the drive between homes counted as billed. Account and partner-billed jobs and moves that included our full packing are not in these numbers. Packing supplies extra; 3-hour minimum.
Flat, wide streets help: a single-story house in a neighborhood like Dana Estates usually lands near the low end, while apartment stairs or an elevator at one end add some time.

Questions and answers
Does it cost more because Concord is far from San Jose?
No. There is no charge to travel to you. The clock covers the work itself and the drive between your two addresses.
Can you move us from a Concord apartment to a house in Clayton Valley?
Yes. We plan for the apartment stairs or elevator at pickup and the driveway at the house, and pick a crew size that fits both.
Our downtown building wants an insurance certificate. Is that a problem?
Not at all. COIs are free. Send us the building's management name, mailing address and email.
We have an upright piano on the ground floor. How many movers?
With no stairs, an upright does not require a four-person crew. If there is a flight of stairs, we send four. Grand pianos always get four movers.
Can we add a stop at a storage unit on the way?
Yes. Extra stops on a local move cost only the time they take.
How do I know when the crew will arrive?
You get a 9 to 11 AM window for a morning start, and the crew calls 30 minutes before arriving.
