San Francisco to Oakland and East Bay movers

We move people between San Francisco and the East Bay in both directions. From mid-July to late October 2026 we received 6 quote requests between San Francisco and an East Bay city, not counting account work, and 4 of them were booked or completed.

This is a local hourly move. The Bay Bridge crossing is short in miles but it almost always runs longer than 10 minutes, so California's double drive time rule applies to the drive between your two homes.

• Hourly rate for the whole crew and a 26 ft truck: 3 movers $175 (our standard team), 4 movers $235 for larger homes, and 2 movers $145 for very small moves or on request, the same every day of the week.
• 3-hour minimum, then billed in 15-minute increments.
• Included: furniture disassembly and reassembly, moving blankets, tape, wardrobe boxes and floor protection.
• No charge for mileage, fuel, tax, stairs or elevators. Boxes and other packing supplies are charged as used.
• No deposit. You pay at the end of the move by cash, money order, Visa or Mastercard (3% fee on cards).

Rounded map estimates. Treasure Island addresses are part of San Francisco and are reached from the middle of the Bay Bridge.

Double drive time is triggered by time, not miles. If the drive from your San Francisco address to your Oakland address takes 25 minutes on the day, 50 minutes of drive time go on the bill. If the bridge is slow and it takes 40 minutes, 80 minutes are billed. We do not charge for driving to your pickup or back from your drop-off.

Arrival windows are 9 to 11 AM for both San Francisco and East Bay pickups, and the crew calls 30 minutes before arriving.

The East Bay end of the move is where access varies most. Flats and duplexes around Lake Merritt, Temescal and Rockridge often mean an exterior staircase and street parking. Homes in Montclair and the Berkeley hills sit on narrow, winding streets where a 26 ft truck may not reach the door. Send us the address early. David checks the access on the map, and if the truck cannot get close he tells you before move day whether a shuttle is needed. A shuttle adds a truck rental and labor, so it is better to know ahead.

There is no separate charge for stairs on a local move. Stairs simply add time, and time is what you pay for.

The truck needs about 40 feet of curb. On blocks with bus lanes, bike lanes or tow-away hours, get an SFMTA temporary parking permit (see our permit guide); a double-parking citation is added to the bill. Many San Francisco condo buildings require a certificate of insurance and an elevator booking. We provide the certificate free; you book the elevator, and elevator wait time is billed as part of the move.
