Older houses and duplexes on the side streets, newer apartment buildings along Telegraph Avenue. In Temescal, the plan starts with where the truck can stop off a busy avenue.

Temescal grew up around Telegraph Avenue, which is still its spine: a long commercial strip of restaurants, bars and small shops. Step one block off it and the streets are residential and mostly flat, lined with older houses close together, many of them split into two or more units over the years.
That means two different jobs. A house or duplex on a side street is a classic older-home move: porch steps, narrow interior stairs and furniture that has to come apart. An apartment in one of the newer buildings along Telegraph or near the MacArthur BART station is a building move, with a leasing office, an elevator schedule and a specific spot where trucks are allowed to load.
Either way, the avenue shapes the day. Telegraph has bike lanes and buses, so the truck rarely stops right on it. We find the nearest legal spot on a cross street and plan the carry from there.

Work through this two to three weeks out:
What we keep in mind around the neighborhood:
Pricing is hourly with a 3-hour minimum: $145 for 2 movers, $175 for 3 movers and $235 for 4 movers, plus packing materials used. A one-bedroom with an elevator often needs fewer hands than a full house with porch steps and an upstairs.
Floor protection, moving blankets, tape, wardrobe boxes and furniture disassembly and reassembly come with every full-service move. Art and mirrors can be boxed by the crew; see packing services and the moving cost guide.
Rarely. Telegraph has bike lanes, buses and heavy traffic, so we load from the nearest legal spot on a cross street and carry from there.
Most do. Ask the leasing office about move hours, the elevator and the loading area, and send us any certificate of insurance request. We provide the COI.

If the truck needs curb space on a city street, yes. Oakland issues an Obstruction (OB) permit through OakDOT, and the signs must be up 72 hours before the move.
Yes. Tell us the floor, the stairs and whether the entry is shared, and we plan the crew so the other units are not blocked for long.
Rockridge is just east, Emeryville is a few minutes west, Lake Merritt is a short drive south down Broadway, and the Claremont district of Berkeley is north past Rockridge.
