Furniture movers for the pieces that do not fit through the door
Furniture movers in the Bay Area: how we wrap, take apart and carry sofas, beds, antiques, glass, pianos and safes. Hourly crew, blankets included.

Help the crew help your furniture
6 items- Measure the doors, stairs and elevator at the new home for any piece you are worried about.
- Empty drawers, cabinets and shelves.
- Take loose glass shelves out of cabinets and pack them, or ask the crew to.
- Point out antiques, repairs and wobbly joints to the foreman before loading.
- Send photos of anything around 300 lb or more with the quote request.
- Decide what stays behind and keep it in one room.
Furniture is most of a move
Boxes are quick. What takes the time on a move, and what gets damaged when it goes wrong, is furniture: the sectional that has to turn on a landing, the bed frame that only comes apart one way, the glass top, the armoire that is taller than the stair ceiling. Our crew has been doing this together for years (the core since 2007, the newest member since 2014), and the routine is the same on every job: protect the floors and doorways, take apart what should come apart, wrap everything in blankets, and carry it out in an order that keeps the truck load tight.
How we handle common pieces
| Piece | How it travels |
|---|---|
| Sectional sofa | Separated into sections, wrapped in blankets |
| Beds and bed frames | Taken apart and rebuilt, included; mattress covers $15 each |
| Dressers | Drawers emptied first; the foreman decides if folded clothes can stay |
| Glass tabletops | Boxed and wrapped; covered by the Silver package |
| Mirrors and large art | Boxed so nothing touches the surface; covered by Silver |
| Antiques and armoires | Padded and strapped; tell us about loose doors and fragile trim |
| Flat-pack furniture | Taken apart and rebuilt like any other piece |
| Pianos | Grand: always 4 movers. Upright: 4 with a flight of stairs, else 3 |
| Safes and pieces over about 300 lb | Send a photo first; David confirms the approach |
| Refrigerators, washers, dryers | We disconnect and move them; someone from your side handles water and gas lines |
| TVs | Taken off the wall when no special tools are needed, connected at the new home; never wall-mounted by us |
| Treadmills and home gyms | Folded or partly taken apart as the model allows |
Included with every move
Moving blankets, tape, floor protection with carpet runners and blankets (shoe covers on request), and taking apart and putting back together beds, tables, desks and other furniture are all included in the hourly rate. There is no fee for stairs, elevators or long carries beyond the time they take. Boxes and special cartons are billed as used: a mattress cover is $15 and a TV box up to $50, or the Silver package (+$35 an hour) covers mattress covers, TV boxes and the boxing of mirrors, frames and glass tops for the whole job.
Moving one piece, or a few
We are a full-service household mover, so a one-piece job is billed like any local move: the hourly rate with a 3-hour minimum, because the crew and the 26-foot truck are committed to your job for that time.
| Crew | Rate | 3-hour minimum |
|---|---|---|
| 2 movers | $145/hr | $435 |
| 3 movers | $175/hr | $525 |
| 4 movers (grand piano, very heavy pieces) | $235/hr | $705 |
If you have a few pieces, it can make sense to combine them into one trip: an extra stop on a local move has no fee, only the time it adds. Moving furniture between units in the same building is also a normal job for us.

Questions and answers
Do you charge to take furniture apart and put it back together?
No. Disassembly and reassembly are included in the hourly rate.
Will you move a single couch?
Yes, billed like any local move with the 3-hour minimum. With 3 movers that minimum is $525.
Do I need to empty my dresser?
Yes. Empty every drawer. The foreman makes the final call on whether folded clothes can stay in place.
Can you move a very heavy safe?
Send a photo and the weight if you know it. For anything around 300 lb or more, David confirms the approach and crew before we book it.
Do you mount TVs?
No. We take TVs off the wall when no special tools are needed and connect them at the new home, but we never mount them.
