Western Addition Movers From Alamo Square to the Fillmore
Western Addition movers for Victorians near Alamo Square and mid-century apartments along Fillmore. 3 movers $175/hr, 3-hour minimum. 1-877-417-6060.

Curbs, hills and wide boulevards
Geary and Fillmore are busy with buses, and Alamo Square's slopes are steep enough that where the truck stands takes some thought. Residential blocks have tight curb space between garages. The truck needs about 40 feet to park with the ramp out. If you cannot find that legally, see our parking permit page for how a temporary space can be arranged. Building rules for the larger complexes vary, so ask your manager what is required.
A big piece of central San Francisco
The Western Addition covers a wide middle stretch of the city west of Van Ness, roughly from Geary Boulevard down toward the Panhandle and Hayes Valley. Fillmore Street is the corridor most people know, with a jazz history and a row of restaurants and music venues. Alamo Square sits on a hill at its center, where the row of painted Victorians on Steiner Street faces the park, and Divisadero marks the western side. San Francisco's Japantown lies along its northern edge near Geary.
Two kinds of buildings, two kinds of move
The neighborhood holds two very different housing types. One is the 19th-century Victorian, often split into flats, with tall front stairs, deep narrow floor plans and a back stair down to a yard. The other is the mid-century apartment complex built during the redevelopment era, with elevators, interior corridors and a management office that may ask for a certificate of insurance.
A Victorian move is mostly about stairs and turns, so we size the crew for carrying. An apartment complex is about the elevator and the hallway distance from it to your door. Elevator waiting time is billed as part of the job, so reserving it with management before the date saves you money.
San Francisco requests, citywide
ZIP 94115 produced only one quote request in our recent data, which is not enough to say anything useful. Across San Francisco, excluding account work, 43 households asked us for a quote between mid-July and late October 2026, and 28 of those moves were booked or done. The most common sizes were one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes.
What a Western Addition move costs
Our rates are hourly and do not change for weekends. Three movers at $175 an hour handle most flats and apartments here. A large Victorian of three bedrooms over 1,800 square feet, or four bedrooms or more, gets four movers at $235. Two movers at $145 is only for a very small job or by request. The first 3 hours are the minimum, and 15-minute increments follow.
Typical cost to move in Western Addition
For planning purposes, we compared homes of the same size across our recent local jobs, then applied the standard crew rate for each size. Read the numbers as a typical spread; your bill is hourly and depends on the time the crew spends.
| Home size | Crew | Typical hours | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3.5 to 4 hours | $613 to $700 |
| 1 bedroom | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3 to 4.5 hours | $525 to $788 |
| 2 bedrooms | 3 movers, $175/hr | 4.5 to 7.75 hours | $788 to $1,356 |
| 3 bedrooms, under about 1,800 sq ft | 3 movers, $175/hr | 7 to 12.5 hours | $1,225 to $2,188 |

From our closed local jobs for direct customers, July to October 2026: the middle half of billed hours by home size, including the drive between your two addresses and excluding account, partner-billed and full-packing jobs. Supplies are charged as used, with a 3-hour minimum.
A Victorian flat with tall front stairs is mostly about carrying, while an apartment complex is about the elevator and the hallway to your door, where waiting time is billed.
Coming in from the South Bay
The truck leaves San Jose and drives about 43 miles northwest to reach you, and that trip is free. San Francisco jobs get a 9 to 11 AM morning arrival window, and the foreman calls half an hour before pulling up. If the new place is more than 10 minutes from the old one, California rules double the drive time between them; a move to Hayes Valley or Lower Pacific Heights normally falls short of that.
Western Addition move checklist
- If you rent in a complex, ask management for move hours, elevator booking and any COI request; we send the COI free once we have the manager's name, mailing address and email.
- In a Victorian, measure the front door and the stair turn.
- Plan where the truck will stop and whether you need a temporary space.
- Label boxes by room so the crew can place them without asking at every doorway.
- Mention any piano: uprights take four movers only when a flight of stairs is involved.
Next door to the Western Addition
- Hayes Valley movers: southeast, newer condos beside older flats.
- Pacific Heights movers: north up the hill, larger homes and views.
- Polk Gulch movers: east past Van Ness, dense apartment blocks.
- Haight-Ashbury movers: south across the Panhandle.
- San Francisco movers: everything citywide.
Questions and answers
My complex wants a certificate of insurance. Do you charge for it?
No. Send us the property manager's name, mailing address and email and we provide the COI at no charge.
Is elevator waiting time billed?
Yes, waiting for an elevator is part of the job time. Booking the elevator ahead with management keeps that time short.
Can you move a piano out of a Victorian flat?
Yes. An upright needs four movers when there is a flight of stairs, and a grand always takes four movers.
Do you give a firm price?
We do a free on-site estimate and give a not-to-exceed price. The visit happens in person rather than over a phone camera, and local moves are billed by the hour, so the final bill reflects actual time up to that cap.
Is there a deposit?
Local moves have no deposit. You pay at the end by cash, money order, Visa or Mastercard.
