Los Gatos is the town at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains where Highway 17 starts its climb. Moves from San Jose land in very different places: flat streets near downtown Los Gatos, older cottages on narrow lanes, and homes up winding roads in the hills. We completed a San Jose to Los Gatos 2-bedroom move this fall in 3.5 billed hours, and handled a second request on the same lane earlier in the year.

Downtown San Jose to Los Gatos is about 10 miles on CA-87 and CA-85 or on Highway 17. With moderate traffic the drive takes 15 to 20 minutes, which puts most pairs over the 10-minute line, so the drive between the two homes is billed twice. A pickup in Cambrian or Almaden can be closer. Driving to your pickup and home from the drop-off are never billed.
Up in the Los Gatos hills, roads can be narrow and steep, with tight turns and little room to park. Our 26 ft truck needs about 40 feet for the truck and ramp. Send the address early. David looks at the access on the map before move day and tells you if a shuttle will be needed. A shuttle adds a rental truck and labor, so it is better to know ahead.
On flat streets near downtown Los Gatos, parking is usually the only question. Ask a neighbor to leave the curb open in the morning.
