• 3-hour minimum, then billed in 15-minute increments.

• No charge for mileage, fuel, tax, stairs or elevators. Boxes and other packing supplies are charged as used.

Highway 17 is a winding two-lane-each-way mountain highway, and a loaded 26 ft truck takes it carefully. Because the drive between San Jose and Santa Cruz is well over 10 minutes, it is billed twice under California's double drive time rule. We do not charge for driving to your pickup or back from your drop-off, and there is no mileage or fuel fee.

Weekend afternoons and summer beach traffic slow the drive toward Santa Cruz. Our rate is the same every day, but if your dates are flexible, a weekday often means less time sitting in traffic on the clock.

Homes off Highway 9 in Felton and Boulder Creek, in the hills above Scotts Valley and along the summit roads can sit on steep driveways or narrow lanes. Send us the address before booking. David checks the access on the map and tells you whether our 26 ft truck can reach the door. If it cannot, a shuttle may be needed, which adds a truck rental and labor. We would rather tell you that at the quote than on the morning of the move.

In town, Santa Cruz has a lot of older cottages and apartments with exterior stairs. Stairs carry no separate fee on a local move; they add time.

1. Measure the driveway or street width at the mountain end and tell us about tight turns or low branches.
2. Pack every loose item in sealed boxes; we do not move items in plastic bags.
3. If you have patio furniture or garden tools, bundle them so the crew can wrap them in blankets.
4. Our truck holds about 1,750 cubic feet in one trip. If you have a large house plus a full garage, mention it so we can plan the load.
