Mission San Jose Movers Below Mission Peak

Mission San Jose is the district of Fremont that grew around the California mission of the same name, founded in 1797 and still standing on Mission Boulevard. The old town center around the mission has a small main street feel, Ohlone College sits on the hill just south, and Mission Peak rises behind everything to the east. Washington Boulevard and Mission Boulevard are the main roads, and I-680 runs along the western edge. Despite the name, this is part of Fremont, not the city of San Jose.

Most homes are single-family houses on generous lots, many from the 1960s through the 1980s: single-story ranches on the flatter streets and two-story homes with formal living rooms and big family rooms higher up. On the slopes toward Mission Peak there are larger custom houses with long or steep driveways and views over the bay. Closer to the old center, a few older homes and small apartment complexes mix in.

The two-story houses are what make the hours here. A full upstairs, a three-car garage and a kitchen full of appliances all add time, and the on-site estimate is where we see how much.

If you have been in the house a long time, a move out often means sorting rooms of keepsakes, a garage workshop and garden tools. Doing that sorting before the estimate visit gives you a truer not-to-exceed price, because we only quote what is actually going.

ZIP 94539 includes Mission San Jose along with Warm Springs and the south end of Fremont. From mid-July through late October 2026 it sent us 3 quote requests, all local moves, and 1 has booked or completed. One was a one-bedroom and one a three-bedroom; the third did not list a size.

A two-story four-bedroom, or a three-bedroom over 1,800 square feet, gets 4 movers at $235 an hour. Most smaller homes and townhomes are a 3-mover job at $175. Two movers at $145 is for very small moves only. We bill a 3-hour minimum, then 15-minute increments, and the rate is the same every day. Driving to your door is free, and boxes and packing paper are charged only for what you use.

To show what the rate adds up to, we compared homes of the same size across our recent local jobs and multiplied the hours by the matching crew rate. Local moves are billed by the hour, never as a flat price.

Figures use the middle half of billed hours from local moves we completed for direct customers July through October 2026, drive time between homes included, account and full-pack jobs left out. Boxes and other supplies are extra, and no job bills under 3 hours.

The district is about 13 miles north of downtown San Jose, a direct drive up I-680. Because Fremont falls under our East Bay schedule, the morning arrival window is 9 to 11 AM, and the foreman calls 30 minutes ahead. On hillside streets a 26-foot truck sometimes cannot reach the door; David checks access before the day and tells you whether a shuttle is needed. If your new home is more than 10 minutes away, state rules double the drive time between the two addresses.

• Empty the garage shelves and attic storage a few days early.
• We disconnect and move the refrigerator and washer, but have someone from your side there to handle the water lines.
• Take TVs off the wall or leave them for us to dismount; we do not wall-mount at the new home.
• Pack a box of essentials for the first night and keep it in your car.
