Bay Area to Texas movers
Moving from the Bay Area to Austin, Dallas or Houston? How interstate moves are priced by weight, delivery windows, weighing and payment.

One of our most common interstate routes
Texas is where more of our long-distance customers move than anywhere else, ahead of New York and Florida. We have moved Bay Area households to the Houston area and to other parts of Texas, including returning local customers who came back to us for the big move. We quote moves to Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and the towns around them.
How a Texas move is priced
Interstate moves are priced by weight. Your written estimate lists the estimated weight, the rate per pound and a minimum space reservation, the long-distance version of a local move's minimum hours. If the shipment weighs more than the reservation, the extra weight is billed at the same rate per pound. The estimate is non-binding: the final price follows the actual weight plus any additional services.
Prefer a fixed number? Reserve a whole truck for a binding flat fee, with guaranteed pickup and delivery dates and the same team at both ends.
How the weight is measured
After pickup the loaded shipment is weighed and you receive the net weight and the scale ticket, along with an invoice showing each charge. For returning customers, we can estimate from the weight of an earlier move. For everyone else, a free on-site inspection gives the most accurate estimate. We do not do video estimates.

Austin from our long-distance page; other distances are rounded map estimates. Typical transit to Central states is 7 to 10 days. Our policy window is delivery within 30 days of your first available delivery date.
Charges that can apply at delivery
Interstate moves can include extra services: stairs beyond the first flight, a long carry of more than 100 feet, an elevator, or a shuttle if the truck cannot reach your door. If any are likely at your Texas home, we list them in the estimate. A reserved-truck flat fee does not change with access conditions.
What is included
Loading, unloading, disassembly and reassembly, moving blankets, labeling and an inventory, and all mileage, tax and tolls. No weekend fees. Unpacking boxes is not included. Basic valuation of $0.60 per pound per article is free, and full value protection is available through Baker International.
Payment
You pay half at pickup and half at delivery, by cash, money order, Visa or Mastercard, with a 3% card fee. Returning customers and real-estate-agent referrals get 7% off the final price, and friend referrals 5%.
Planning around the Texas summer
Moving into Texas in July or August means unloading in serious heat and humidity. Have the power, water and air conditioning at the new home turned on before the delivery date, keep a cooler of water for yourself, and decide ahead which rooms the beds and boxes go to so the crew can work quickly. For Houston-area homes, ask your HOA or building about delivery-hour rules.
