Payment
You pay 50% at pickup and 50% on delivery, by cash, money order, Visa or Mastercard, with a 3% card fee. Returning customers and real-estate-agent referrals get 7% off, and friend referrals 5%.
Coast to coast
Along with Texas and Florida, New York is one of the places our long-distance customers move to most. Requests come from San Francisco and the South Bay to Manhattan, Brooklyn and the suburbs; in 2026 we quoted a San Francisco to Westchester County move. At about 2,900 miles from San Francisco, it is one of the longest routes we price.
Priced by weight, with a minimum reservation
The estimate lists the estimated weight, the rate per pound and a minimum space reservation. A heavier shipment is billed at the same rate per pound for the extra weight. The estimate is non-binding: the final price follows the actual weight and any extra services. If you want a fixed number and fixed dates, a reserved truck at a binding flat fee is the alternative.
Because weight drives the price, the best money-saving step on a cross-country move is to sell or donate what you will not use in New York before the estimate.
New York buildings
Manhattan and Brooklyn buildings often require a certificate of insurance naming the building, a booked freight elevator and a weekday delivery window. Many co-ops and condos allow deliveries only during set weekday hours, and some want the freight elevator booked days ahead. Ask your building for its rules as soon as you have a delivery estimate and share them with us so delivery is scheduled to match.
Walk-ups are common, and on a weight-based interstate move, stairs beyond the first flight, long carries over 100 feet, elevators and shuttles can be charged as extra services. If a large truck cannot park on the block, a shuttle may be needed. We list what is likely in your estimate so you know what to expect on delivery day.
Packing for a long haul
Ten days or more in transit is hard on loosely packed boxes. Use sturdy cartons, fill empty space, and do not use plastic bags. Full packing service with all supplies is available if you would rather we handle it. Every item is labeled and listed on an inventory at pickup. Unpacking at delivery is not included.
Coverage
Basic valuation at $0.60 per pound per article is included at no cost. For valuable furniture and art, full value protection is available through Baker International (bakerintl.com, mover ID 17421).
