Can I get extra boxes from the movers on moving day?

Yes. Our truck carries boxes and all packing supplies, so the crew can hand you more on the spot. You pay only for what is used, per your quote list.

Do I need to order boxes ahead of the move?

No order is needed. The truck arrives stocked, and you can tell us beforehand if you expect to need a large amount.

Should I still tape and label the boxes I fill on the day?

Yes. Close each one fully and write the room on the side so it lands in the right place at the new home. The crew can help tape if you are short on time.

Do unused boxes cost anything?

No. Only the supplies the crew actually opens or hands over are billed.

Labeled moving boxes and wardrobe boxes in a living room

Yes, the truck carries them

Yes. Every truck rolls out stocked with spare boxes and the rest of the packing supplies, so if you run a few short, just ask the crew. Anything they hand you is billed at the prices on the materials list in your quote, and only for what actually gets used.

What is on the truck

  • Extra moving boxes.
  • Dish packs for kitchenware.
  • Packing paper and bubble wrap.
  • Mattress covers ($15 each).
  • TV boxes (up to $50, sized up to 75 inch).
  • Wardrobe boxes, moving blankets and tape, free to use during the move.

Running short is normal

Almost everyone underestimates the last room. The bathroom cabinet, the hall closet, the junk drawer: they always hold more than expected. Rather than a last-minute store run, the crew can pass you boxes and keep loading while you fill them. If there is a lot left, they can also pack it themselves at the hourly rate, which is faster when time matters.

A quick tip: before the crew arrives, walk through each room and open every cabinet and closet. Whatever you find still full tells you how many extra boxes to ask for, and lets the foreman plan the order of loading so packed rooms go first. Tips for planning ahead are on our moving checklist.

How it shows on your bill

At the end, the foreman notes the supplies opened and they appear as line items next to your hours. If enough materials end up being used, it is worth comparing your total against a package rate, since packages bundle the supplies. The packing services page lists both options, and packing and storage covers longer projects.
