From the foothills to the university town

The drive: about 20 miles, billed twice
From Saratoga the usual way north is CA-85 to I-280 or to US-101, roughly 20 miles and 25 to 35 minutes when traffic is moving. Because that is more than 10 minutes, the drive is counted twice under California's double drive time rule. A 30-minute drive adds one billed hour. Your pickup trip and the drive home after the drop-off are free.
Driveways, gates and access
Our 26 ft truck needs about 40 feet of straight curb or driveway for the truck and its ramp. On a steep or narrow private road, David checks access on the map before move day and tells you if a shuttle would be needed; a shuttle adds a rental truck and labor. Gated estates: send the gate code or have someone meet the crew. The arrival window for a Saratoga pickup is 8 to 10 AM.

Packing a large home
A large home may have china, crystal, framed art or wine to pack. You can pack yourself, or choose a package. Silver adds $35 per hour on the whole job time and covers packing supplies for bulky and fragile items like TVs, mirrors and glass tops. Golden adds $70 per hour and includes full packing with all supplies. You decide on the package at the end of the move. TVs are dismounted and reconnected, but we never mount a TV on a wall.
