Painted Victorians, family homes with long front stairs and side streets that tilt hard toward Diamond Heights. Here is what we check before a Noe Valley move.

The eastern blocks near Church Street are fairly level, and that is where most of the shops and cafes are. Head west toward Castro, Diamond and Douglass and the streets climb quickly toward Diamond Heights. Several cross streets are steep enough that a crew needs to think about where a loaded truck can safely stop, and on which side of the street.
Homes tend to sit up off the sidewalk. A classic Noe Valley Victorian has a run of exterior stairs to a raised front door, then an interior stair to the bedrooms. Two-unit buildings put the upper flat a full floor higher. None of that is unusual for us, but it changes the time a move takes, so we ask about stairs and floors when we quote.
Older homes also mean original details worth protecting: hardwood floors, built-in cabinets, stained glass and wooden banisters on narrow staircases. Floor protection and blanket wrapping come with every full-service move, and the crew takes extra care around banisters and door frames on the tight turns.

Access changes a lot within a few blocks. A few notes we keep in mind:
Moves are billed hourly: $145-185 an hour for 3 movers, 3-hour minimum, plus packing materials used. Date and availability set the exact rate.
Floor protection, moving blankets, tape, wardrobe boxes, and furniture disassembly and reassembly are part of every full-service move. Packing packages are Standard, Silver (+$35/hr) and Golden (+$70/hr). Read the moving cost guide for more.
The blocks near Church Street are fairly level, but streets get steep heading west toward Diamond Heights. On those blocks we choose a truck position that is safe on the grade, even if that means a slightly longer carry.
Yes. Tell us the piano type and the number of front and interior steps when you ask for a quote so the crew and equipment are planned for it.
Three movers cost $145-185 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, plus packing materials used. Your date and our availability decide where the rate falls.
Yes. Disassembly and reassembly are included on a full-service move, which helps on narrow Victorian staircases.
On many blocks it is the best way to get the truck close. The SFMTA authorizes temporary no-parking signs; apply a week or more ahead and confirm the posting rules and fees at sfmta.com.
The Mission is downhill to the east and Bernal Heights is just over Cesar Chavez Street. Moves across town to the Sunset or over to Potrero Hill are common short trips too.
