A small community under the mountain
Diablo is a small unincorporated community just east of downtown Danville, reached by Diablo Road where it heads toward the southern entrance of Mount Diablo State Park. It grew up around the Diablo Country Club and its golf course, and it still feels like a country retreat: narrow lanes, old oaks, stone walls and large lots, with very little through traffic. Diablo has its own ZIP code, 94528, though most errands happen down the road in Danville.
Moves here are rarely rushed. Owners often move out of a house they have lived in for a long time, or move into one they have restored, and both mean a lot of planning: what goes to the new home, what goes to storage, and what goes to family. We can split a load between more than one destination; extra local stops cost only the time.

Estate homes and older country houses
The housing is a mix of older country houses, some dating back many decades, and large newer estate homes built on generous parcels. Expect long driveways, multiple levels, guest houses, wine storage and garages full of equipment. Antique furniture, large art, pianos and heavy stone or marble pieces are common in homes like these, and they set the pace of the move more than the square footage does.
For any single piece over 300 pounds, send us a photo first so David can confirm the crew and the plan. Grand pianos always get 4 movers.
Lanes, oaks and private roads
Roads in Diablo are narrow and winding, many without sidewalks, and some are private. Low oak limbs and tight turns can make it hard for a full-size moving truck to reach a house directly. Our truck is 26 feet long and needs about 40 feet with its ramp, so before any Diablo move David checks the access and tells you whether a shuttle is needed. Ask your neighborhood or road association about any rules for large vehicles or moving days, and let us know what they say.
Pricing for a larger home
Many Diablo homes have four or more bedrooms, which means 4 movers at $235 per hour. A smaller cottage or guest house may only need 3 movers at $175. Each job carries a 3-hour minimum, then 15-minute increments, with the same rate every day of the week. For estate moves we strongly suggest the free on-site estimate, which ends with a not-to-exceed price. Full-value protection is available through Baker International if basic valuation of $0.60 per pound per article is not enough for your belongings.
Diablo: typical hours and totals by home size
Rather than quote a vague starting price, we compared homes of the same size across our recent local jobs and set them next to the crew rate for each size. These are typical ranges, not quotes; billing stays hourly from the crew's arrival until the job is complete.
| Home size | Crew | Typical hours | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3.5 to 4 hours | $613 to $700 |
| 1 bedroom | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3 to 4.5 hours | $525 to $788 |
| 2 bedrooms | 3 movers, $175/hr | 4.5 to 7.75 hours | $788 to $1,356 |
| 3 bedrooms, under about 1,800 sq ft | 3 movers, $175/hr | 7 to 12.5 hours | $1,225 to $2,188 |
| 3 bedrooms over about 1,800 sq ft, or 4+ bedrooms | 4 movers, $235/hr | 7 to 12.5 hours | $1,645 to $2,938 |
Figures use the middle half of billed hours from local moves we completed for direct customers July through October 2026, drive time between homes included, account and full-pack jobs left out. Boxes and other supplies are extra, and no job bills under 3 hours.
Large estate homes with long driveways, guest houses and antique or stone pieces can run past the largest row, which is why we plan them from an on-site visit.
Distance, arrival and drive time
Diablo is about 34 miles north of downtown San Jose. We only publish request numbers for an area once it reaches three requests, and Diablo and Danville did not between mid-July and late October 2026, so there is no local figure here. East Bay morning arrivals are in a 9-11 AM window, and the crew calls 30 minutes ahead. Getting to you is free. If your destination is more than 10 minutes away, California rules double the drive time between the two addresses.

Questions and answers
Can a full-size truck reach my house in Diablo?
Sometimes not, because of narrow private lanes and low oak limbs. David checks access before move day and tells you whether a shuttle is needed, which adds truck rental and labor.
How do you protect antiques and art?
Everything is wrapped in moving blankets, and fragile items can be packed by our crew. For high-value pieces, ask about full-value coverage through Baker International.
Do you move grand pianos?
Yes. Grand and baby grand pianos always get 4 movers, and a piano-only grand move has a 4-hour minimum.
Is there an extra charge for the long driveway?
No. Long carries are billed only as time. We see the driveway during the estimate and plan around it.
Do you provide insurance certificates for a community or club?
Yes, a COI is free. Send us the name, mailing address and email of the organization that needs it.
