What if something is missing after my move?
Call or text us with a description of what you cannot find. David checks with the foreman on your job, and the truck is inspected again. Most of the time the item turns up at the old address or tucked into a box nobody expected it to be in.

The longer answer
Where missing items usually turn up
| Common cause | What to check |
|---|---|
| Left at the old home | Closets, high shelves, the garage, behind doors |
| Packed in a different box | Boxes labeled for a nearby room, or a box marked "misc" |
| Moved by someone else | A family member or roommate who packed their own car |
| Still on the truck | The foreman re-inspects the truck after you report it |
Why the truck is a short search
Our crews sort out the truck at the end of each move and again at the start of each day, and they do a final check with you before leaving, so it is unlikely that something rides off with the crew. We still look every time you ask.
If something is not just misplaced but damaged, that goes through a separate claims process with its own form and steps. David will walk you through it, and our moving resources page collects other after-the-move guides.
Help us find it faster
- Describe the item: size, color, and the room it came from.
- Tell us whether you packed it or the crew did.
- Open any unlabeled or mixed boxes first.
- Ask someone at the old address to take one more look.
Next time, our moving checklist suggests a last sweep of the old home before the crew leaves. More detail on home moves is on residential moving.
More questions people ask
How soon should I report a missing item?
As soon as you notice. The sooner David asks the foreman, the fresher everyone's memory of the day.
Could my item still be on your truck?
It is unlikely, since trucks are organized every evening and morning, but the foreman will check again for you.
