How do I file a claim if something is damaged in a move?
Contact David directly with photos, your job number and a receipt or link to a similar item. He handles every Spartan claim personally.
Who do I call about broken furniture after my move?
Call or email David at Spartan. He personally reviews each claim.
Do I need the receipt?
A receipt helps, but a link to a similar item currently for sale works too.
What if I bought protection from Baker?
Then your claim goes to Baker International under the policy you purchased.
How much will I get back?
Under basic valuation the most is 60 cents per pound of the damaged article; a Baker policy pays according to its own terms.

Start with David
Reach out to David, the owner, by phone at 1-877-417-6060 or by email. He handles every damage claim himself. Have photos, your job number and either a receipt or a link to a comparable item ready, and he will walk you through the rest.
What to gather
- Photos of the damage, close up and from a distance, plus any packing it came in.
- Your job number and move date, found on your paperwork or emails.
- Value support: the original receipt, or a link to a similar item for sale now.
- A short description of what happened and when you noticed it.
Which coverage applies
| Your coverage | Who handles it | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Basic valuation (standard) | Spartan, through David | 60 cents per pound per article |
| Full value bought from Baker | Baker International | Your Baker policy terms |
If you bought a Baker policy, file with them; David can still confirm the move details they ask for.
A few practical tips
- Report as soon as you notice a problem, ideally while boxes are fresh.
- Keep the damaged item and its packing until the claim is settled.
- Note anything you saw on move day, even if it seemed minor then.
- If a wall or floor in the home was marked, photograph it with something for scale.
The crew wraps furniture in blankets and protects floors before carrying anything, but if something does go wrong, clear photos and a value reference give David what he needs to review the claim.
We cannot promise a fixed timeline, because each claim depends on the item and documentation, but David stays in touch until it is resolved. Our moving resources page has more planning help, and the residential moving page explains how our crew wraps furniture to avoid damage in the first place.
