No discount, but no card fee either
A
We do not have a cash discount. Paying with cash or a money order does avoid our 3% card processing fee, so it works out a little cheaper than paying by card.
What the card fee adds
A| Move total | Cash or money order | Card (3%) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| $525 | $525 | $540.75 | $15.75 |
| $1,000 | $1,000 | $1,030 | $30 |
| $1,400 | $1,400 | $1,442 | $42 |
Why cards carry a fee
ACard payments are not a problem, they just cost a bit more. Our merchant account services apply different rates to different cards, so we charge an average 3% per transaction to cover it. Debit cards are charged the same as credit cards. We accept Visa and Mastercard, processed on site by the crew at the end of the move. We do not take checks, Zelle or Venmo for the move itself.
Discounts that really lower the price
AIf you want to bring the total down, these are the options that come off the bill itself:
- 7% off the final price if you have moved with us before
- 5% when a friend referred you
- 7% when a real-estate agent referred you
Referrals just need the name or phone number of the person who sent you. The coupon page lists current offers, and the cost guide helps you estimate the total before you decide how to pay.
Paying cash on moving day
APayment is due in full when the job is done, since there is no deposit on local moves. Having the cash ready when the crew wraps up keeps the finish quick. Since the bill is based on actual time plus materials, the exact amount is known only at the end, so plan to have a little more on hand than the low end of your estimate, or keep a card as a backup. Tips are separate and optional; cash tips go straight to the movers.
