The four ways to pay

Spartan Moving accepts four forms of payment: cash, money order, Visa and Mastercard. A card payment, whether credit or debit, includes a 3% processing fee. On a local move nothing is collected up front; you settle the full bill with the crew when the job is finished.

How paying on move day works

When the last item is placed and the crew has walked through with you, the foreman totals the hours and any packing materials. If you pay by card, the team processes it right there on site, so you do not need to call the office or fill out a form later. Cash or a money order goes to the foreman the same way.

For how that total is built, see our moving cost guide.

Getting ready to pay

  • Decide ahead of time whether you will use a card or cash, so there is no scramble at the end of a long day.
  • If cash, withdraw a little more than your estimate, since the final figure depends on actual hours.
  • Have the card in hand rather than packed in a box that is already on the truck.
  • If a company or another person is covering the bill, raise it with David before move day.

Long distance is different

Moves outside the local area are split in two: half is paid at pickup and the other half at delivery, using the same accepted methods. Local jobs within the Bay Area, covered on our local moving page, are a single payment at the finish.

Questions and answers

Do you take American Express or Discover?

We accept Visa and Mastercard. For other cards, please plan on cash or a money order instead.

Is a debit card cheaper than a credit card?

No, both are charged the same 3% processing fee. Cash and money orders have no fee.

Do I need to pay before the movers start?

Not on a local move. There is no deposit and the full amount is due when the work is done.

Can I split the payment between two cards?

Ask the foreman or the office before move day. Each card payment carries the 3% fee.
