Will movers move my house plants?
Yes, if the plants fit in the truck and up the stairs at the new place and can ride safely. Big planters depend on space left after loading.
Yes, if they fit and can travel safely
Yes, we can bring your plants along. A plant comes along if it fits in the truck, fits through the stairs and doors at your new home, and can be transported without getting damaged. Big outdoor planters are a judgment call made on the day.
Why large planters are loaded last
The truck is packed house first. Furniture and boxes go in tight, and plants fill the space that is left. A few pots on the floor of a room are rarely a problem, but a row of heavy patio planters may not fit if your home already fills most of the truck. If you have big ones, send a photo when you ask for your quote so we can tell you how it looks. Clay and ceramic pots are heavy once filled with soil, so a lighter plastic nursery pot inside a decorative one is easier for everyone.
Helping your plants survive moving day
- Water a couple of days before, not the morning of, so pots are lighter and do not drip.
- Set small plants in open-top boxes so they stay upright.
- Tie up long trailing vines loosely.
- Carry your most delicate or sentimental plants in your own car.
- Leave tall plants that bend easily for last, so they are first off the truck.
Bay Area moves are short
Most of our moves are within the Bay Area, so plants spend only hours on the truck rather than days. Heat and darkness are what usually stress them, so a short trip helps. On a local move they usually arrive the same day. Pets and plants both do better with a little planning; see moving with kids and pets.

Questions and answers
Do movers charge extra for plants?
No separate fee. Carrying plants only adds working time to the hourly job.
Can you move a large potted tree?
Possibly. It depends on the weight, whether it clears the stairs and doors, and how much room is left in the truck once your home is loaded.
Should I pack plants in closed boxes?
Leave the top open so the plant gets air and the stems are not crushed. A box just keeps the pot upright.
