Single-story ranch homes on the flats around Castro Valley Boulevard, and newer houses on the slopes to the east. Two very different moves in one community, and we plan for whichever end you live on.
Call toll free1-877-417-6060Castro Valley is not a city. It is an unincorporated community in Alameda County, governed by the county, and it sits in a valley in the East Bay hills between San Leandro to the west and Hayward to the south. Addresses use ZIP 94546 for most of the community and 94552 for the newer neighborhoods to the east.
Castro Valley Boulevard is the main commercial street, and Interstate 580 runs through the valley on its way between Oakland and the Tri-Valley. The Castro Valley BART station sits beside the freeway, and Lake Chabot Regional Park spreads across the hills to the north. Redwood Road heads north out of town into those hills.

Much of the valley floor is single-story ranch homes with an attached garage and a driveway. No stairs at the entry and a short walk to the truck, so these tend to be the quickest homes to load.
On the eastern slopes, houses are generally newer and larger, many with two floors, a sloped driveway and a view back across the valley. The stairs are inside, and the grade is outside.
Several communities near the boulevard and the freeway have private streets, assigned parking and an HOA. Ask the management company about move hours and where a truck may stop.
Garden-style complexes and small apartment buildings sit near Castro Valley Boulevard and the BART station. Upper units usually mean an exterior staircase, so let us know the floor.
On most streets the driveway does the job. These are the cases that take more planning:
A lot of Castro Valley moves stay close: a family moving from a ranch house on the flats to a larger home in the hills, or downsizing from the hills to a townhome near the boulevard. Others head west to San Leandro and Oakland or east over the grade to Dublin and Pleasanton. Our local moving service covers all of it.
If you are selling before you buy, packing and storage keeps your things safe between homes at a flat monthly price. For an out-of-state move, see long-distance moving.
Our hourly rates: 2 movers $145, 3 movers $175, 4 movers $235, with a 3-hour minimum, plus packing materials used. A single-story ranch house with the truck in the driveway often fits a smaller crew than a two-story hillside home with a steep drive.
Moving blankets, tape, wardrobe boxes, floor protection and furniture disassembly and reassembly are included with every full-service move. See moving cost for what adds hours and what saves them.

Hayward borders the valley to the south, San Leandro is just west, and Dublin and Pleasanton are east on Interstate 580 over the hill.

No. Castro Valley is an unincorporated community governed by Alameda County. It has its own ZIP codes, 94546 and 94552, and borders Hayward to the south.
Usually not, because most homes have a driveway the truck can use. If the truck must hold space on a public road, check with Alameda County, since the roads there are county roads.
It is billed hourly: $145 an hour for 2 movers, $175 for 3 movers and $235 for 4 movers, with a 3-hour minimum, plus packing materials used.
