Will Spartan match a cheaper moving quote?
Spartan does not price-match, but compare like for like: our quote is for 3 movers with truck. Discounts are repeat 7%, referral 5%, agent 7%.
Can you lower your rate if I show you another quote?
We do not adjust to match competitors, but David will review your situation and check whether any of our discounts apply.
Why is your quote higher than one I got for two movers?
Our standard quote assumes three movers, which usually finish faster.
Do discounts stack?
Ask David; each discount is applied by him to the final price.
Our position on price matching
We do not price-match. Our rate is the lowest we can offer once we factor in our costs, including workers' compensation, insurance and fuel. Before you decide, check that the two quotes describe the same job. Often the gap disappears once you compare them line by line.
The most common reason quotes differ
Our standard quote is for a team of three movers, not two. A lower hourly number from someone else may be for a smaller crew that takes longer. Some companies quote per mover, add a truck fee, or charge for travel time to and from your home. Others have a longer minimum. Put the quotes side by side before treating one as cheaper.
Questions to ask any mover
- How many movers are included in that hourly rate?
- Is the truck included, or billed on top?
- What is the minimum, and how is time billed after it?
- Do you charge for the drive to my home and back?
- How do you handle double drive time?
- Are blankets, tape, wardrobe boxes and disassembly included?
- What fee applies to card payments?
Our answers: three movers and the truck at $175 an hour, 3-hour minimum, 15-minute intervals after, free travel to and from you, supplies and disassembly included, 3% card fee. The moving cost guide has more detail.

Price is one part of the picture
Our movers are our own team, not day labor: the longest-serving has been with Spartan since 2007 and the newest since 2014. Every job is backed by workers' compensation, general liability and cargo coverage, and basic valuation is included free. See our local moving service for what you get.
