How long does long-distance delivery take?
Within California, delivery comes within 7 business days, or the next day with a reserved truck. Interstate is up to 30 days, often 3-14 by region.
It depends on the route
Moves inside California are delivered within 7 business days, or the very next day if you reserve the truck. Moves to other states have a delivery spread of up to 30 days from the first available delivery date, and the regional averages below are shorter than that.

Typical interstate timing
| Destination region | Average delivery |
|---|---|
| West Coast | 3-7 days |
| Mountain and Central states | 7-10 days |
| East Coast | 10-14 days |
| Outer limit for any interstate move | up to 30 days |
These are averages, not promises. The 30-day window is the commitment. Distance is only part of the picture; season, the size of your shipment and access at the new home also play a role, so treat the table as a planning guide rather than a delivery date.
Why there is a window at all
On a weight-based move, your shipment travels on a truck that may also carry other households heading the same direction. Routing those deliveries efficiently is what keeps the price per pound reasonable. The tradeoff is a delivery window rather than a fixed day. If you need certainty, reserving the truck removes the window: in California a 5,000 lb reservation brings next-day delivery, and the same team handles both ends.
Planning backward from a deadline
- Find the date you must have your furniture, such as a lease start.
- Look up the average for your region in the table above.
- Pick up early enough to absorb the full window. For a New York delivery by the end of July, David advised loading at the beginning of July.
- Arrange a place to stay or a few essentials to carry with you in the meantime.

Questions and answers
- Can I get a guaranteed delivery date?
Yes, by reserving the whole truck, which locks in both pickup and delivery.
- When does the 30-day window start?
It runs from the first available delivery date on your move, not from the day you book.
- What should I pack to take with me?
Clothes, medications, documents and anything you need daily until the truck arrives.
- Will someone tell me when the truck is close?
Stay reachable by phone during the delivery window so the team can coordinate the drop-off with you.
