How do movers protect my floors and stairs?

Runners and blankets, included
Before carrying anything heavy, our crew rolls out carpet runners along the main paths and lays moving blankets on stairs and at doorways. Shoe covers are available if you ask for them. All of this is part of the standard service, not an add-on.

Extra care for new floors
If your new home has freshly finished hardwood, tell us when you book. On those floors David has the crew skip dollies and hand trucks indoors and carry pieces by hand from the door to the room. It takes a little more effort, but wheels on soft new finish are an easy way to leave marks.
We also recommend sticking felt pads under the legs of tables, chairs and dressers at the new home. Once furniture is in place, felt pads are the simplest way to stop scratches each time something gets nudged. It is easiest to do while the crew is placing each piece.
Before the crew arrives
- Mention any new, delicate or light-colored flooring at either address.
- Ask for shoe covers if you would like them used.
- Clear rugs that slide, or roll them up for the move.
- Have felt pads ready at the new place.
- Point out any spots, like a fragile threshold, the crew should avoid.
